More on Gov. Palin

Good evening from scenic Rhode Island…  and the blogosphere is on fire with the left and right opining about Gov. Palin.  While the right has tried to spin her ‘executive experience’ and her ‘commander-in-chief’ time, the left honestly hasn’t made much headway attacking her.  But, it is interesting to note the impact of the choice among the “undecideds.”  I mean, isn’t that who the candidates should be focusing on, not shoring up support among those they’ve already got in their pocket?  Well, The Atlantic has an interesting take on the recent polls – undecideds have moved away from McCain/Palin as a result of her.

Decision Making?

One bit that, as a father, gives me pause is her decision, as a 44 year old mother of 4 – much less as a governor, to fly back to Alaska after her amniotic sac had broken, 7 months pregnant, with a high-risk pregnancy.  Seriously?  I know when Tonya was pregnant with Anthony and had gestational diabetes, we were restricted from traveling at all in the third trimester, let alone attempt to fly 8 hours in the opposite direction from the best medical care in the Nation.  I’d like to hear more about this…

Foreign Policy experience by osmosis?

Can foreign policy experience be gained by osmosis or mere proximity?  Cindy McCain thinks so:

Local Alaskan news with obvious contradictions by Gov Palin and her staff:

But, on a lighter note, she has taken on a Chuck Norris type following with her Sarah Palin Facts.  This will definitely be an interesting fall election rodeo.

  1. Walt Monegan has openly admitted to not being told by Palin to fire the trooper…of course though, the Troop (Wooten) had not been a Boyscout to say the least, going as far as tasering his step son.

  2. D.A.,
Thanks for the comment… As I understand the situation, Monegan has stated that Gov. Palin did not contact him re: firing Trooper Wooten. Roger, I got it. But, that fact aside, there are glaring inconsistencies between what her office has said initially to now. Honestly, I am more worried about her baseline political beliefs than her *possibly* trying to get a crappy trooper fired.

In my humble personal opinion, Both Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin have failed to make good decisions, both on the political playing field and off. Of course, Sen. Obama, with the Rev. Wright association and the felon throwing him a party, has some issues on the table too, but in contrast I see McCain/Palin as making the more grievous errors.

When you say that the liberal media distorts the truth, correct me if I’m wrong, but a more accurate statement is *everyone* distorts the truth. We each have our own filters through which we process our surroundings. The ‘liberal media’ and the ‘conservative media’ are simply applying their filters – one of which may be closer to our own filter – and we choose which one we believe.

Troopergate (honestly, I dislike the appending of -gate to scandals or pseudo-scandals) may or may not pan out – roger. But after the years of haranguing of being ‘unpatriotic’ and ‘anti-American’ for disagreeing with the Republican vocal politicos like Rove and his ilk, it isn’t out of the question to assume that those on the other side of the aisle will take offense to the appearance of impropriety. And, for the record in my original post, I stated “While “Troopergate” may or may not pan out, her opposition to the Alaskan Clean Water ballot measure is another story.”

    Cheers to healthy debate!
